Job Description

• Hours M-F Normal business hours About Lancaster Event Center Fairgrounds (LEC):
Fast-growing, dynamic public, non-profit organization is looking for an experienced Accounting Specialist interested in an organization where they may grow their career in their areas of interest for years to come in accounting, finance and/or business management. The LEC Fairgrounds is a nationally recognized event center with 400,000 square feet of multiuse spaces on over 160 acres. Now home to over 320 events with 500-600K unique visitors annually, the LEC Fairgrounds brings as much as $60 million in incremental local economic impact based on visitor spend around the community & state from our 100 largest regional/national events. We are proud to offer affordable space for local youth, community and business events while serving as an on-demand emergency center. The LEC Fairgrounds is owned and operated by the Lancaster County Agricultural Society board which organizes and hosts the largest county fair in Nebraska each summer--the Lancaster County Super Fair--and provides a home for other year-round ag education/business/tourism events year-round—to support its mission to further engagement of youth & the community with agriculture.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with our accounting team & event staff
• High school diploma, required
• Associates or Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Business preferred
• Minimum two years' related accounting experience
• Candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Accounts Payable & Payroll
• Process Managers approved AP POs and Invoices after required approvals are secured
• Entry of AP in Quickbooks in correct accounts, classes, events with accurate complete notation
• Reconcile vendor statements each month
• Process Payroll through Heartland Payroll System Accounts Receivable
• Generate Invoicing in QuickBooks in collaboration with Events staff, answering customer invoice questions & developing positive customer relationships
• Apply payments to Customer accounts in QuickBooks & Ungerboeck
• Timely response to Event staff and Customer inquiries related to Billing Controller Support
• Support Controller on special projects as needed e.g. running & building reports, pricing, benchmarking, annual audit, reports & surveys, attendance tracking etc. HR Admin
• Processing enrollments, changes and removals for approx. 25 full-time employees in benefits programs General Administrative Support
• Provides backup support to Front Desk for lunches and last hour of the day or when front office admin is absent or busy; including answering calls providing general client, visitor or LEC team member information at counter/by phone, assisting walk-in customers/vendors/exhibitors; closing down the front office daily, selling camping/tickets/electric/shavings etc. to visitors by phone or walk-in, training visitors where to find info or order online
• Supporting annual Super Fair organized by the LEC Fairgrounds with special duties that may include setup and working of 2nd fair office in ABATE Room
• All LEC team members may be called in to help during our biggest events to temporarily help service food, cashier, sell/scan tickets, usher/greet, etc. This might be an hour or two on particular day with or without notice or might be entire days scheduled usually in advance like at the Super Fair. These duties will be very helpful to understand your year-round duties & make suggestions for improvements or better communicate/train & work with other departments.
Other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS:
Software systems used includes:
• Microsoft skills, Strong specifically in Excel & Outlook preferred; knowledge of Word a plus
• QuickBooks Desktop- Extensive current knowledge strongly preferred
• Willingness & ability to learn Ungerboeck event and venue management software
• Willingness & ability to learn point of sales cash register software
• Willingness & ability to learn eTix ticketing software
• Willingness & ability to learn Credit Card processing platforms Abilities a successful candidate would possess:

• Ability to work well under pressure while keeping calm with colleagues and guests
• Ability to be available limited nights/weekends to work 3-4 large events per year with the rest of LEC team; willingness to be flexible with weekday work hours around office needs a plus.
• Ability to sit for long periods to complete work on computer, ergonomic equipment available upon request
• Agriculture/animal/4-H/FFA/rodeo/nature background/interest preferred but not required PAY:
