Position Summary:

Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a full-time Leadership Instructor for our Economic and Workforce Development team based on our Fond du Lac Campus. The primary teaching responsibility will be in the areas of team building, leadership, and communication. This instructor will be teaching at various campuses and business or Department of Corrections locations within the Moraine Park District as needed. This position may also be required to teach on evenings and weekends. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Credentialed Programming. This is a 178-day year-round contract.

 

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree (or willing to obtain one from an accredited program) and two years of paid work experience in the program being taught.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for and facilitate learning in the assigned courses according to the College’s core values. Establish a professional and safe learning environment. Set the classroom tone by modeling appropriate workplace skills and behavior. Maintain a positive climate for learning by performing classroom management and being aware of, monitoring, and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Meet student learning needs by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments.
  • Maintain student confidentiality, records, and documentation as required by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Submit grades within the expected timeframe.
  • Provide timely verbal and written feedback to the students to ensure continued growth and development.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and updating of curriculum.
  • Assist with student recruitment and proactively promote the College programs and services offered.
  • Promote retention and student success through the utilization of referrals to College services and resources.
  • Engage in internal and external College meetings and activities.

 

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Two years (4,000 hours) of paid work experience related to the program(s) being taught, including one year (2,000 hours) of related paid work experience that has been acquired within the past five years. In lieu of this one year of recent experience, two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the past five years may be considered. (Two years of post-secondary teaching experience means eight semesters of part-time teaching or four semesters of full-time teaching at an accredited institution.)
  • Experience with at least four of the following job duties:
    • Responsible for planning, organizing, leading, controlling, and coordinating in designated areas of responsibility
    • Coordinate people and business activities, budget, and oversee records control
    • Hire, train, motivate, discipline, terminate, lead, and supervise employees
    • Assign duties to employees and prepare work schedules and budgets
    • Handle complaints and promote continuous improvement
    • Review operations, write reports, enforce regulations, and help employees solve work problems
    • Manage Support services of businesses, agencies, or organizations. Direct activities concerned with the purchase or sale of materials or services; clerical functions, benefit programs, and dealing with outside organizations on matters such as business services and contracts
  • Upon hire, must maintain and/or obtain Higher Learning Commission, Faculty Quality Assurance System, and other agency requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable.

Other Position Requirements:

  • Flexible scheduling may be required to include evenings and weekends.
  • This position may require travel to MPTC (Moraine Park Technical College) campus locations other than the base location, client/contract work sites, and/or Department of Corrections (DOC) institutions.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Hiring Range: $68,444-$85,556 (Pending board approval) 178-day year-round contract
