Job Description - Technical Sales Specialist

The Technology Sales Specialist provides full support in the field for the sales function in regards to Quest Diagnostics’ technology portfolio including Electronic Medical Records (EMR), interface capabilities and Quanum. They support growth and promote customer retention through a collaborative effort with field Commercial representatives by positioning the company's growing connectivity technology solutions portfolio with customers and prospects. The Technology Sales Specialist will also act as the voice of the customer by listening to needs for product enhancements and providing critical feedback to the Product Marketing and Development teams. This position is involved in converting customers who are ordering laboratory tests manually to electronic ordering.

 

The territory encompasses Long Island, Brooklyn and Queens. A company car and gas card are provided. 

  • Partner with IT and Commercial teams to improve internal processes and drive growth of lab revenue using our technology solutions.
  • Provides field support activities to drive towards customer retention, preventing customer attrition.
  • Develop a consultative and advisory relationship with key customers for their information technology needs.
  • Support the e-Requisition initiative as the Quest/customer sales person to convert manual requisitions to eReqs for more efficient processing. Also provides support to reduce eMI (missing billing information).
  • Maintain expertise on our connectivity solutions including our Quanum online customer portal and EMR/LIS interfaces. Provide consultative support to customers to ensure optimal placement and utilization of our solutions.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise around topics such as Meaningful Use, EHR adoption and workflow recommendations.
  • Is a resource for Commercial reps for questions and problem resolution.
  • Responsible for training the Commercial team both in the field and in formal settings (sales meetings, etc.).
  • Provide insights to Commercial team on leveraging technology to grow and enhance business relationships.
  • Acts as Commercial team’s point of escalation for exceptional issues pertaining to our technology portfolio.
  • Follows up with growth accounts to ensure proper utilization of connectivity and revenue growth in the account with an emphasis on promoting electronic orders.

 

Education:

Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in IT, Life Sciences or Marketing preferred

 

Work Experience:

  • 3-5 years of successful customer facing sales or customer service experience
  • Working knowledge of Electronic Medical Record and/or Laboratory Information Systems programs preferred
  • Strong knowledge of physician office workflow

  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated solid communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong customer orientation and ability to apply basic selling skills and techniques.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a cross-functional, matrix environment and collaborate with multiple levels and functions in the organization
  • Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Software.

The base salary range for this position is from $88,700-159,300,   plus a yearly bonus. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
