Job Description - Analyst I

JOB TITLE: Analyst – Commercial Insights & Analytics – Rare Disease

LOCATION: Plainsboro, NJ hybrid (2-3 days in-office per week)

DURATION: 6 months with potential to extend

SCHEDULE: 9 to 5pm EST TIME

PURPOSE

Provide analytical and reporting support to CI&A Rare Disease team managing day to day data handling activities, ad-hoc analysis and data requests and reporting activities of assigned departments.

RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to Commercial Insights & Analytics leader supporting Rare Disease business. Internal relationships include close interactions with CI&A Rare Disease team, cross functional colleagues in other Commercial Insights & Analytics groups like Data Strategy and Advanced Analytics, Finance, Marketing, Medical, Market Access as well as global partners.

External relationships include interactions with external data partners and consultants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DATA MANAGEMENT, ANALYSIS AND REPORTING:

  • Updates and processes secondary data feeds from industry sources (e.g. Komodo, IQVIA, Decision Resources, prescriber, payer, patient and promotional sources, etc.) and internal data (call files, sales data, etc.) into excel and/or other custom programs

  • Manages and employs data to create market trend and product performance analysis Design, develop and maintain recurrent monthly /quarterly and ad-hoc reports using advanced query techniques for customers; provides analysis and interpretation of the report data

  • Ensure distribution pre-established on-going (weekly, monthly) reports and dashboards in line with business needs and objectives

  • Maintains and develops (in close collaboration with internal data strategy) databases and analytic applications in environments such as Tableau, SAP, Excel/Access, and/or other proprietary environments

  • Contribute to hypothesis driven investigations into detailed channel dynamics, prescriber, patient and transactional data

  • Maintains catalogue of standardized market definitions and analytical business rules used within the analyses and reports, while proactively monitoring areas of concern or opportunity for enhancements

  • Leverages internal data systems and tools to efficiently maintain data and reporting processes to minimize manual data updates

  • Ensures timely receipt of data from vendors and ensures data integrity and quality throughout all processes

COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION:

  • Develop and sustain close working relationships with key business partners, including commercial, medical and operations business colleagues (US & Global) as required

  • Proactively monitors areas of concern or opportunity for enhancements and provides recommendations/proposals, supports relevant analysis as needed

  • Development and execution of presentations with clear storylines, grounded on holistic business concepts and communicate key conclusions and business recommendations /implications (what/so what and now what) to business partners and peers through formal and informal channels

  • Analytical thinker and creative problem solver, ability to influence others with verbal and written communication

  • Crafts clear narrative, uses it to develop own perspective and recommendations, even if others may disagree, and takes a stand

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred

  • 2+ years of analytics and reporting experience required, preferably in a pharmaceutical industry, - consumer packaged goods, or marketing organization considered

  • Able to create effective reports that present data in meaningful and cohesive story telling presentation for commercial team consumption – not just data dump

  • Experience manipulating and analyzing complex datasets including specialty pharmacy, Komodo, IQVIA (Xponent, DDD), Patient Level Claims Data, and other proprietary sources

  • Proficiency working with Tableau, Excel and other data manipulation and analysis platforms

  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines

  • Positive and eagerness to learn, collaborate and partner with internal business colleagues

  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines

  • Excellent verbal, writing, presentation, project management and effective influencing skills required

  • Work independently - Gather input about needs from business partners and set own direction accordingly
