Job Description - Assistant General Manager

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience in the full service or fast-casual restaurant industry
  • High school diploma required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred
  • Experience in training and developing people
  • Experience in sales and customer service
  • Demonstrate experience in operational excellence in both front of the house and back of the house
  • Proven track record of managing cost of goods and labor
  • Understanding of business reports and budgets
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Servsafe® Certification preferred.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coach and develop team members at your restaurant
  • Constant communication of values, strategies, and objectives
  • Assigning responsibilities; planning, monitoring, and evaluating job results; developing incentives; cultivating a team-like environment where team feels appreciated & valued; providing on-going training opportunities
  • Builds company image by collaborating with customers, vendors, community organizations, and employees; enforcing ethical business practices
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing our organization’s standards
  • Monitors & comprehends sales growth and cost management of the café against the budgeted expectation and historical performance, to maintain profitability best practices.
  • Maintains and exceeds guest expectations to build brand loyalty & repeat business.
  • Present a consistent, professional image of the café (and team) by maintaining all sanitation and appearance standards
  • Communicate and remain update-to-date on all marketing and promotional materials. Executes marketing and sales programs, following appropriate guidelines.
  • Build café sales by cultivating relationships in the business community and initiating local store marketing campaigns.
  • Upholds the highest food quality and hospitality standards
  • Ensures food safety, maintains product inventory and develops staff to prepare all food at the highest level
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety standards, and applies knowledge of all policies and procedures
  • Enjoy working in the food & beverage industry

Tropical Smoothie was born on a beach. There was no art on the walls, because we had no walls. The view was all the art we needed. That first blender was almost as loud as the surf. Fresh fruit came in by the basket, strapped to the front of our cruiser bicycles. Between volleyball games, walks in the sand and dips in the water – they lined up. And the smoothies poured out. We learned a lot on that beach. Most of all, we learned a better way to live. Take things easy, soak up the sunshine and be who you are. We learned the need to a getaway is not a once-a-year-thing – it’s an everyday thing. If we can inspire people to eat better and live better, if we can help the whole world feel a little more like that beach, then we will have done something pretty rad. That’s the idea. That’s Tropical Smoothie Café.
