The Business Intelligence Developer will work with senior leadership to provide data driven insights to drive tactical execution of the strategic plans for Omni Hotels & Resorts.

 

The incumbent will provide data-driven insights primarily using SSRS to assist in solving complex business problems and recommend solutions that directly impact our revenue management team and overall revenue growth for the company. 

 

Location: Dallas, TX

• Create reports using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS); write complex SQL queries against SQL server database to validate the reports; and provide performance tuning and maintenance of existing reports
• Ability to tackle complex business problems by converting raw data into meaningful and actionable business insights.
• Writes and maintains database stored procedures, functions, and queries.
• Troubleshoot issues with reports currently in production and provide timely fixes.
• Create and deliver insightful presentations that summarize complex analysis and inform business unit owners.
• Ability to write, update and troubleshoot existing complex SQL queries.
• Respond to business report requests by following standard SDLC processes, from requirements gathering, design, QA testing, deployment, and support.
• Engage closely with stakeholders to determine reporting business needs, document, and define requirements, create a plan to implement the solution and deliver on the plan.
• Analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements.
• Support, maintain and troubleshoot report issues related to Microsoft Reporting Services (2014+).
• Maintain and support data feeds to external partners using SQL Server Integration Services (2014+).
• Reverse engineering of existing code and perform impact analysis of the changes done.
• Document functionality and designs of reports. Assist with creating reporting models, architectures, frameworks, and strategies based on business requirements.
• Develop technical solutions to support and streamline data reporting requests.

• SQL Azure experience a plus
• API integration experience a plus
• Expereince migrating SSRS reports to Power BI a plus
• Strong Technical skills in Power BI Desktop & Power BI service, specifically expertise in DAX functions and Power BI modeling
• Advanced experience and knowledge of SSRS and Visual Studio
• Direct experience authoring reports for at least 3 years using Microsoft Reporting Services (SSRS 2014+)
• Experience in complex SQL development leveraging analytics functions
• Collaborate with Revenue Management senior leadership to identify, prioritize and execute analytical work that enables a deep understanding of demand trends at the market level
• Ability to assist in analytics projects for other departments when needed
• Experience with code documentation
• Process and meticulous with advanced analytical skills
• Experience developing business intelligence solutions in the travel and hospitality industry is a plus
• Ability to work flexible hours, as needed, given tight project deadlines
• Ability to communicate status, issues, designs, and plans to managers, peers, and business partners
• Must adhere to organizational codes of conduct and confidentiality
• Bachelor’s degree required
