Your Role:

As our Communications Manager, you will be at the helm of our communications strategy and overseeing a diverse array of tasks that keep our community informed, engaged, and excited. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Manage and curate content for our website: ensuring it remains informative, engaging, and reflective of our dynamic brand and community.
  • Craft compelling marketing materials that showcase the best of what Daybreak has to offer - from stunning visuals to persuasive copy.
  • Create and execute strategic communication plans that align with our organization's goals and objectives, ensuring our messaging is consistent and impactful.
  • Oversee all communications for LiveDAYBREAK, including brand management, internal communications, public relations, and community outreach efforts.

Detailed Job Description

Position Summary:

The Communications Manager works with the LiveDAYBREAK Director in all organizational communication aspects. They oversee the communications department and work with the team to execute strategic communications campaigns. The Communications Manager oversees the LiveDAYBREAK brand and communicates its mission and values effectively to all stakeholders.

Essential Duties:

The Communications Manager position typically works Monday through Friday during typical office hours but has the flexibility to support events on weekends and evenings as needed. Essential duties include:

  • Create and execute strategic communications plans focused on achieving measurable objectives.
  • Manage newsletters and other modes of mass communication, including social media accounts.
  • Manage and curate website content.
  • Engage media and execute all press releases and media inquiries.
  • Create marketing materials for all events and initiatives.
  • Arrange and/or shoot event photography and videography.
  • Manage and delegate to communication department team members.

Additional duties or job functions may be required as deemed necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience working with Adobe, Canva, and/or other content creation software.
  • Experience creating and executing strategic communications plans.
  • Writing press releases, blog posts, and articles.
  • Building relationships with stakeholders, local businesses, and potential sponsors.
  • Ensuring brand consistency across social media and other mass communications channels.
  • Create and maintain style guides and brand voice outlines for all events and LiveDAYBREAK generally.
  • Consult with executive management to develop effective communication procedures and policies for various situations or crises.
  • Develop materials to educate staff on communication practices.
  • Perform communications research and monitor the progress of various communications strategies and organization objectives.
  • Collecting and interpreting data.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Basic web design.
  • Social media management.
  • An eye for graphic design and creating attractive and effective visuals.
  • Creative and analytical thinking.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Although most of the Communications Manager's time will be spent in a typical office setting, the Communications Manager should be physically able to perform and assist in the various roles and responsibilities as described including:

  • Ability to routinely lift fifty pounds.
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Work outdoors in the heat and cold.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license and an excellent driving record.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related field.
  • 3 years of full-time experience in the communications field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Great at multi-tasking and delegating.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, including writing, speaking, and active listening.
  • In-depth knowledge of best writing and messaging practices for business correspondence, public relations, advertising, marketing, and social media.
  • Professional experience with and understanding of crisis management.
  • Ability to effectively engage with team members of all levels and across departments.
  • Great project management skills, including time management, goal setting, multitasking, and prioritization.
  • Can effectively analyze data and make strategic plans based on data.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
  • Adobe program certifications.
  • Microsoft Office program certifications.
  • Familiarity with Qualtrics or similar data collection programs.
  • Experience working with non-profits or in the event/recreation industry.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
