Job Description - Compliance Analyst

Job summary
Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest is seeking an Internal Finance Auditor for our Finance Department in Phoenix, Arizona. This is a challenging and rewarding position that involves mitigating risks, ensuring compliance, and conducting internal audits. The successful candidate must have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field and at least four years of experience in financial accounting or analysis.
Job seniority: mid-to-senior level
Responsibilities
• Perform the full audit cycle, including risk management, control management, financial reliability, and compliance. • Determine internal audit scope, conduct interviews and audits, and develop plans. • Obtain, analyze, and evaluate accounting documentation, reports, and internal controls. • Examine internal data for contracts, grants, and financial records to identify areas of risk. • Prepare analysis, performance reports, and year-end data. • Identify and report potential noncompliance with industry regulations and company policies. • Prepare audit reports on control issues and other findings. • Perform any other assigned duties.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting or a related field. • At least four years of experience as a financial accountant, financial analyst, or business accountant. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Strong financial and record-keeping skills. • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, and apply basic algebra and geometry concepts. • Ability to define problems, collect data, and propose solutions. • Ability to work with spreadsheet and word processing software. • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. • Excellent interpersonal skills. • Thorough understanding of risk, compliance, and financial legislation. • Exceptional financial research training and abilities. • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills. • Dependable, responsible, and professional with a strong work ethic.
