Job Description - Compression Manager

Overview:

Diversified Gas & Oil Corporation (“DGOC”) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Diversified Energy Company PLC, a US-based company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and London Stock Exchange (LSE) under the ticker symbol “DEC”. Diversified Gas & Oil Corporation (DGOC) is an established owner and operator of producing conventional and unconventional natural gas & oil wells and midstream pipelines and compression stations concentrated in the Appalachian Basin in the United States. Headquartered in Birmingham, AL, our field operations are located throughout the Appalachian Basin in the states of Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. In 2021, Diversified announced our expansion into our Central Regional Focus Area, which includes producing areas within Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

Responsibilities:

The Compression Manager will oversee daily gas and NGL operations activities at multiple compressor and plant facilities and all the associated auxiliary equipment. They will supervise and direct employees involved in the day-to-day management of gathering and transmission of natural gas through numerous compression facilities. The role requires at least 8 years of experience in the field or in a related area. The Compression Manager should be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. They will rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, perform a variety of complex tasks, lead and direct the work of others, and a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.

 

Special focus will be placed on:

  • Responsible for all compression operations within assigned region(s) to ensure efficient, effective, low-cost management, and coordination of operational activities.
  • Directs supervisor level direct reports to ensure operational goals, objectives, and initiatives are attained.
  • Leads, coordinates, and directs all employees and contractors within area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for establishing, monitoring, and meeting “gathering and transportation cost” goals for assigned areas.
  • Responsible for monitoring and management of gathering and transportation operating expenses and ongoing project costs to ensure effective and economic production.
  • Monitors daily activity reports and compressor reports in identification of production and/or equipment problems.
  • Monitors daily, monthly, quarterly, or annual gathering and transportation rates to identify performance trends and/or problems.
  • Ensures all environmental and safety compliance issues are met.
  • Works with all departments to ensure effective management of compression operations and maintenance, to meet company standards.
  • Monitors field personnel’s daily cost reports, compliance reports and operational reports to ensure timely reporting requirements are met.
  • Coordinate the development of enhancement project plans with internal departments.
  • Coordinates with Gas Energy Marketing department to manage gas sales and to assist in evaluating new markets or assuring maximizing sales of product.
  • Reports directly to VP of Midstream Southern Appalachia Operations.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing various aspects of compression operations, or equivalent operations and maintenance experience. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in leadership role supervising/managing field employees.
  • Achieves staff results by developing and communicating job expectations, performing appraisals, coaching, and training, and enforcing company standards based on performance observations. Evaluates performance and creates plans to promote development. Leads Organization and Succession Planning activities. Ensures process is in place to properly orient, train and qualify new employees prior to performing assigned tasks.
  • Strong working knowledge of all pertinent state and federal regulatory requirements associated with the compression operation and maintenance of facilities including PHMSA, EPA, and OSHA, etc.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with all levels, develop partnerships with other disciplines and groups, communicates routinely and effectively, motivates others outside area of control.
  • Proven capability to effectively delegate and allocate resources to attain goals.
  • Proven experience in effectively supervising and coordinating company employees and managing contractors.
  • Identifies opportunities for analysis (continuous improvement and innovative ideas). Manages the gathering, analyzing, and trending of data. Interprets results, leads discussions with key stakeholders to determine if problems or opportunities exist. Develops action plans and tracks execution and results.
  • Use systems and resources to monitor and alert operating performance outliers. Leverage systems capabilities to alert when operating outside established parameters. Evaluate performance and implement actions as needed to ensure assets are operating at peak throughput and efficiency given current conditions.
  • Has knowledge of the system (both pipeline and compression capabilities) to identify opportunities to optimize throughput and develop curtailment mitigation strategies. Has knowledge of systems in all districts and how it relates to operating conditions, optimization efforts and contingency plans.
  • Identifies opportunities for capital investments that improve safety, compliance, operating efficiencies, increase volumes, save O/M expenses, etc. Develops economic analyses, identifies alternatives, and develops justification. Prioritizes based on capital and resources constraints. Ensures monthly forecasts are accurate and timely.
  • Ensures Work Management System is current with assets, attributes and associated job plans and work orders. Perform ongoing reviews to ensure job tasks optimize maintenance efforts, reduce costs and downtime due to equipment-related failures. Periodically reviews task and asset data to drive improvement in safety, cost, and performance metrics.
  • Ability to effectively manage departmental budgets. Ensures forecasting is accurate and timely. Anticipates budget variances and acts, as necessary. Identifies and implements changes to staffing, parts and materials, processes, services or maintenance practices that will impact short- and long-term expenses.
