Responsible to create, analyze and validate component material costs and targets. Responsible for generating ground-up detailed material cost estimates that encompass both piece price estimations and production tooling estimations. Collaborate with key internal cross functional peers. Analyze, organize, and understand large amounts of data. Be an active partner with the internal GPSC purchasing team – aid in providing a fair yet competitive component cost for GM. Costing collaboration and support of the specific engineering and/or purchasing team. Support the assigned GM SMT from a tooling and piece price perspective. Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. Note, this position requires domestic travel, as needed, up to 2%.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronic, Electrical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field of study. Three years of experience in Job offered or related position. Must also have experience with: 3 years of experience with automotive cost estimating; 3 years of experience with automotive manufacturing; 3 years of experience with automotive product design / engineering or automotive purchasing; and experience with Activity Based Cost Engineering for Material and Vendor Tooling; experience with Tear Down Cost Analysis; experience with Benchmarking; experience with Manufacturing Processes (assembly, stamping, forging, machining, brazing, plastic injection molding); experience with project management; experience with Design for Manufacturing and Cost.
