SUMMARY:

Director of Retention & Success Strategies: Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean of Student Success, the selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating the College's retention and completion initiatives for both the Toledo campus and Youngstown location through collaboration with all departments within the College. This includes but is not limited to, the following: maintaining an Early Alert System, developing, and monitoring Academic Success Plans, and predictive analysis for at-risk students. The Director of Retention and Success Strategies also assists with enrollment management through collaboration with the Academic Advisors and outreach efforts to ensure students are retained.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive retention plan in collaboration with Enrollment, Academic Affairs, and Student Affairs that includes efforts for both undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Manage and monitor Early Alert Referrals and Academic Success Plans to determine appropriate intervention needs and collaborate with faculty and student support services to ensure needs are met.
  • Provide outreach efforts to at-risk students and current students not registered and connect to college resources as needed.
  • In collaboration with Institutional Research, track student enrollment, retention statistics, and gather data to share with College administration, faculty and staff, identify areas in need of improvement and to maximize effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Co-Chair the Student Success and Retention Committee; Serve on additional college and community committees as assigned.
  • Develop and deliver programs and workshops to students, faculty, staff and administrators on topics related to retention at both the Toledo campus and Youngstown location.
  • Stay abreast of current practices and trends as they related to enrollment, retention, and persistence.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS :

Required Minimum Education:

4 year/Bachelor’s degree

Higher Education related

Preferred Education:

Graduate/Master’s Degree

Higher Education related

MINIMUM YEARS/TYPE OF EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of higher education experience, preferably in the areas of retention and persistence

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Ability to communicate with multiple constituencies, high level of interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships both on and off-campus.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred :

Strong organizational skills, and high level of motivation and self-starter. Ability to work across disciplines - student affairs, academic affairs, etc.
