General Description and Classification Standards
The Engineering Co-Op/Internship students assist engineers, geographic information system manager (GIS), construction managers, or departmental managers and others as required, performing analysis and computations as directed.
The Engineering Co-Op offers a traditional program where knowledge is gained and transferred between students and Watershed Management employees in alternating semesters of school and work.
The Engineering Co-Op Internship offers hours which allows the student to work ongoing with consideration of each semesters class schedule.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned.
These employees have the following duties & responsibilities:
(A) Civil Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical/Majors shall perform data computations (manual & digital), collect data for technical operational studies, utilize computer design software, develop written reports, research and review technical documents.
(B) Chemical Engineering Majors shall assist in evaluation of Sanitary Treatment and Drinking Water Facilities, Operations and Processes, Evaluation will include optimization techniques to obtain maximum, efficiently from both Treatment Facilities itemized equipment and principle components.
(C) Chemistry and Biology majors shall assist water distribution plant managers in the Laboratories and the Water Purification plants.
(D) Geographic Information System (GIS) Majors shall assist the GIS manager to collect, analyze and input as-built data and other Department of Watershed Management’s Assets.
