Contact Rusty Noah; ; or Christine Zamora at Minimum Requirements A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience in apiculture, environmental protection, regulation, or health; one of the physical or natural sciences; or engineering; or Two (2) years of experience as an Environmental Specialist I or higher with the State of Florida; or Two and a half (2.5) years of experience as described above. Requires possession of a valid Class E driver license.

This position provides leadership and supports control and eradication efforts of invasive snails and slugs, including the giant African land snail, as needed, throughout the state. Job Duties General Statement: This is a professional position that serves as the daily operations manager on the Giant African Land Snail Program. Evaluates workload to maintain equity and efficiency. Provides training and skill development to ensure efficiency in the field. Ensures that an adequate number of personnel are available to achieve the required goals and objectives. Supervise and trains staff to conduct field observations and collections using approved sampling methods and equipment to collect and submit mollusk, arthropod and insect samples to the appropriate diagnostic section for identification and confirmation. Institutes quality controls to verify that inspections are done accurately in accordance with approved procedures. Ensures that all safety regulations and other department procedures are followed. Monitors work performance of subordinates, provides counseling to develop skills and correct deficiencies, approves timesheets and leave requests, completes performance evaluations and recommends disciplinary actions as needed. Responsible and accountable for managing budget/dollars/resources (staff, vehicles, computers, cell phones, etc.) of any assigned programs in an efficient and accountable manner. Compiles and reviews necessary reports on survey/control/regulatory activities, ensuring punctuality and accuracy. Researches and recommends measures to improve productivity. Ensures performance measures established by the work plan are completed in a timely manner. Implements surveys/control actions/regulatory inspections in response to new detections. Assists with the organization and response to special programs such as plant pest eradication projects and exotic pest surveys. These activities may require absences from assigned headquarters for up to 2 weeks and unusual working hours. Responsible for ensuring that assigned program areas have operational procedures and processes which result in accountability and compliance with division and department policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as directed by bureau chief or assistant bureau chief. Knowledge Of KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Federal, state and division policies, rules and regulations used in plant inspections.
• Computer operations, GIS mapping, GIS equipment, and software including Microsoft Office Suite
• Phytophagous snail and slug survey, control, and regulatory techniques
