Job Description - IT Project Manager

The primary responsibility of the Project Manager is to, under minimum supervision, establish the work priorities for and direct the efforts of personnel (including their consultants or contractors) involved or to be involved on project controlled tasks to provide required achievement of an approved projects objectives. The Project Manager is responsible for five (5) major elements of a project: initiation, planning, executing, controlling, and closing.

  • Initiates, plans, completes, monitors, controls and closes assigned executive sponsored or multi-level sophisticated projects. Assigned projects may include strategic, top priority efforts that require interaction and management with high transparency and significant financial investment.
  • Develops project documentation and deliverables in accordance with American Heart Association project management methodology and ensures audit trails are in place for each project.
  • Identify, model and leverage Project Management standard processes. Provides expertise in both waterfall and agile project management methodologies.
  • Establish work priorities for and advise the efforts of personnel (including consultants or contractors) involved in project-controlled tasks required to meet an approved project's objectives. Provides expedient response, resolution of roadblocks, mitigation of risks, and re-evaluation of priorities for the team.
  • Provide analysis and consultation to determine project requirements and scope.
  • Maintains effective communications. Serve as a liaison between different departments and outside vendors and suppliers.
  • Troubleshoot project problems and develop plans to adhere to timelines and budgets. Anticipate risks and issues. Establish options and solutions, considering impact of decisions. Acts as initial point of contact for escalated issues. Move unresolved concerns to seek leadership mentorship and provide options.
  • Tracks utilization of project resources and costs to ensure adherence to project budget estimates.
  • Ensure projects are completed within the assigned and approved budget as previously agreed through project planning.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related certification
  • Proficient in both waterfall and agile methodology
  • Five years of experience in project management in technology environment, preferably web-based development
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to explain complex, technical concepts in simplistic terms
  • Five (5) years of experience using project management software and related applications
  • Demonstrated competence and success in prior assignments and personal integrity are absolute requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of Fundraising Technology and Solutions
  • Excellent end-to-end understanding of business processes, organization, and techniques
  • PMP Certification
