The Opportunity

Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, L.P. is seeking a skilled individual for our Lead Cloud Architect position at our DTTP - Waller, TX location. In this role, y ou will be part of a brand-new business opportunity within Daikin. The Lead Cloud Architect will be responsible for leading cloud development for our Daikin One smart thermostat and IoT (Internet of Things) devices. You will be part of a team of 20 that will architect and implement a scalable, maintainable, flexible, secure and robust cloud platform and bring it to production rollout. Additional responsibilities may include design, streamline and automate Daikin operations and processes through build and test automation. About DTTP

Daikin Texas Technology Park- has a footprint of 4.23 million square feet under a single roof, and is the third largest factory in the United States. Opened in 2017 as the manufacturing, logistics, and engineering center for Daikin's American subsidiary Goodman, the plant makes heating and air conditioning products sold under the Goodman, Amana, and Daikin brands.

May include:

  • Contribute and coordinate for the software development across multiple cross-functional teams, including the embedded development team and external development team.
  • Responsible for evaluating, identifying, and developing solutions for Daikin One cloud services and IoT platforms.
  • Leading software development projects.
  • Locating and directing solutions for critical challenges involving cloud infrastructure and software development.
  • Training and overseeing the activities of the members of the development team.
  • Develop and manage a scalable, secure, flexible, and maintainable architecture for a highly scalable consumer IoT products and responsible for ensuring that the products meet or exceed the expected product standard.
  • Lead and participate in agile development and assist the team in design reviews, code reviews, unit, and system integration tests.
  • Define product requirements, specification, design, and test documents.
  • Research and recommend innovative and progressive development operations technologies, solutions and providing justification for proposed solutions.
  • Prototype theoretical concepts and deliver reference architectures, comprehensive studies, guidelines and recommendations for development team to follow and implement.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Solid Experience in designing, developing, deploying, and sustaining AWS or relevant based serverless cloud solutions for consumer IoT devices
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally
  • Knowledge of engineering best practices
  • Delegation—the individual delegates work assignments, gives authority to work independently, sets expectations and monitors delegated activities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong large scale change management skills
  • Consulting, conflict management, business literacy, verbal / written communication, flexibility, and strong relationship skills
  • Knowledge and experience in HVAC control and refrigeration systems are preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent written and verbal communications.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule
  • Must be able to work in a very fast paced environment
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Experience with DevOps tools and processes like Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in architecting large scale solutions using infrastructure automation techniques on “on premise” and hybrid cloud services: AWS, Microsoft Azure
  • Must have worked in cloud development and deployment environments – AWS preferred
  • Experience in modern front-end web and mobile application development – react native, SWIFT, Kotlin, JavaScript
  • Experience with multiple database management systems, including MySQL, NoSQL, and different cloud databases.
  • Excellent software development experience – OO design, web services development using REST and SOAP

Experience:

  • 10 plus years of software development experience
  • 5 plus years of technical leadership and cloud architecture experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field required
  • Master of Science preferred but not required
