Machine Learning Research Engineer

Our client are a VC-backed Series A startup who are revolutionizing the eCommerce experience through the power of AI and Machine Learning. They are hiring a Machine Learning Research Engineer to join the team in San Francisco and collaborate with the ML and Data Engineering team to enhance their innovative AI product.

Responsibilities:

• As the Machine Learning Research Engineer, you will leverage cutting-edge research to improve their AI product.

• Yu will be responsible to develop and propose innovative experiment ideas.

• Lead the collection and generation of datasets.

• Optimize models and inference processes.

• Work with ML and Data Engineers on distributed training scripts.

Skillset:

• Minimum of three years of experience working with production AI systems.

• At least one publication as the first author.

• Strong understanding of LLMs, capable of building GPT-1 in NumPy and manually performing backpropagation for transformer blocks.

• Deep knowledge of Machine Learning fundamentals.

• Experience with distributed training and production inference.

• Proficiency in PyTorch.

• Experience building agentic systems with task-specific models.

• Ability to iterate AI products based on customer feedback.
