Job Description - Materials Planner Needed

Kelly® Professional & Industrial is seeking a Materials Planner to work at a premier automotive component manufacturer in Fridley, MN. Sound like something you’re interested in? What’s a typical day as a Materials Planner? You’ll be:

• Planning, ordering, and expediting materials needed in the manufacturing process.

• Maintaining proactive contact with suppliers to understand order status, packaging problems, and Electronic Data Interchange problems.

• Providing information for affected cross-functional areas including shop operations, purchasing, Supplier Quality I, and product engineering.

• Developing and maintaining spreadsheets and databases to assist with responsibilities; analyzing data; auditing pull signals and overall system performance; measuring supplier delivery performance.

• Implementing production scheduling systems; coordinating inventory levels relative to manufacturing capacity and capability; compiling and scheduling orders.

• Working with suppliers to resolve issues regarding procedures, delivery, status updates, pricing, and other matters.

• Tracking, evaluating, and maintaining evolving data for new product introduction.

• Understanding the structure of the organization and maintaining a strong network across departments; drawing on the network to answer questions, solve problems, and successfully execute responsibilities.

• Understanding and applying appropriate company and department rules and guidelines to work.

• Knowing and complying with all safety policies and procedures.

• Demonstrating confidentiality as required. • Interfacing with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions.

• Participating in the maintenance of quality procedures; leading and participating in improvement projects.

• Participating in self- and team-audits and associated corrective action.

• Performing other miscellaneous duties, as required, to get the job done.

• Traveling as required by the work.

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:

• Have experience communicating with suppliers.

• Have experience with Excel.

• Have general supply chain knowledge.

• Have a Bachelor's degree (preferred).

• Have 1 to 3 years of experience.
