Microbiologist

The chosen candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring our cosmetic, skincare, and over-the-counter (OTC) products meet rigorous regulatory standards.

Position Summary:

As a Microbiologist, you will oversee the QC Micro Lab, supervising laboratory personnel and conducting essential testing on raw materials, finished products, and stability samples. Your responsibilities will include investigating the growth and characteristics of microscopic organisms, developing procedures, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain daily workload expectations for lab personnel, addressing any external issues affecting schedules.
• Lead staff selection, training, and performance evaluation, fostering personal and professional development.
• Support process validation, equipment calibration, and verification, ensuring adherence to standards.
• Collaborate with R&D to schedule and prioritize testing activities for manufacturing and product development.
• Facilitate problem-solving discussions, including addressing out-of-specification results and implementing corrective actions.
• Review and analyze non-conformance reports (NCRs), batch records, and workload priorities with the Lab Manager.
• Assist in quality audits and ensure compliance with data integrity requirements.
• Conduct investigations into quality issues and implement appropriate solutions.
• Train new employees on laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
• Manage the chemical hygiene program and oversee maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Develop and manage testing procedures, protocols, and reports in accordance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or related life science field.
• Proficiency in GMP, GLP, and Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action Planning Tools.
• Prior laboratory management experience preferred, ideally in the cosmetic, biotech, or pharmaceutical industries.
• Minimum of 3 years of Quality Control Micro Lab experience, including familiarity with a range of laboratory equipment and techniques.
• Knowledge of micro challenge testing, environmental monitoring, and clean room environments.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and adapt to changing demands.
• Excellent organizational and mathematical abilities.
• Experience in teaching or training employees is a plus.

Additional Information:

• Familiarity with US FDA regulations, including 21CFR Part 210 & 211 (Drug Product) and Cosmetic GMPs, is mandatory.
