The Mission and Advocacy Coordinator is a part-time, 24 hour per week position that leads the post abortion healing ministry, Project Rachel and works to create the capacity within every Catholic parish to assist pregnant and parenting mothers and their families by accompanying them on their parenting journey.

 

Wage Range: $17.00 - $20.60/Hour

Project Rachel:

Project Rachel is the Catholic Church’s diocesan-based ministry to those suffering in the aftermath of abortion. The nationwide ministry helps mothers, fathers, family members, friends, and people of faith or no faith who seek compassionate, non-judgmental help. Priests, religious, counselors, and laypeople provide a team response of care that can help to heal those wounded by abortion.


  • Leads post-abortive ministry; Project Rachel.

  • Maintains referral list of trained clergy and counselors.

  • Organizes training opportunities for those wishing to serve as clergy, counselor or lay volunteer.

  • Coordinates Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat weekend, twice yearly.

  • Creates and updates literature with the assistance of agency marketing coordinator.

  • Answers calls and emails to women and men and accompanies them in their healing journey through Project Rachel’s integrated approach with the highest degree of confidentiality.

  • Communicates with parishes and community regarding services, retreats, and training events.

Walking with Moms in Need:

Walking with Moms in Need (WWMIN) is an initiative of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and creates the capacity within every Catholic parish to assist pregnant and parenting mothers and their families by accompanying them on their parenting journey.

 


  • Updates and maintains a database of current prolife parishes and organizations.

  • Assists with developing relationships and collaborating with Catholic parishes, organizations, offices, and other state and national pro-life organizations.

  • Attends ministry fairs and other community events.

  • Collaborates with other diocesan directors /coordinators in the state of Michigan.

  • Drives for Agency business.

  • Performs other special assignments at supervisor’s request.

  • Knowledge of human service and social justice initiatives.
  • Candidates must be a practicing Roman Catholic with knowledge of the structure, institutions, teachings and practices of the Catholic Church.
  • Conversant in Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Possesses efficient public speaking skills.
  • Ability to develop and organize training.
  • Ability to collaborate and establish partnerships.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Possess strong written and verbal skills.
  • Possesses strong relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn technological responsibilities, newsletter, form, survey creation, and more.

Education:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Theology, Pastoral Studies or related field is preferred, but not required.

 

Experience:

A minimum of 1 year working at the parish or diocesan level is preferred.

A minimum of 1 year public speaking experience is preferred.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

none required.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
