Job Description - Nurse Manager (Registered Nurse)

SUMMARY:

Serves as the administrative head for clinical support services/personnel which includes nursing services. Accountable for effectively managing a variety of job functions by exercising sound decision making principles, coordinating activities of clinical support personnel according to the philosophy, objectives and policies of the organization and the rules, regulations, and laws of the State of Georgia and the federal government, and works in conjunction with the clinical and administrative leadership to achieve established quality and risk management objectives/goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

Assures the delivery of safe, efficient, and effective clinical care provided by clinical support staff. Develops standards and procedures for providing clinical support care and for evaluating services in conjunction with Quality Assurance and Risk Management. This includes the development and assisting in the implementation of other policies and procedures that ensure clinical support service objectives/goals are achieved.

Serves as a liaison between clinical support staff and administrative personnel which includes the Senior Leadership Team. Works with members of the Sr. Leadership Team and administrative personnel to promote standardization of services, chart documentation, office procedures, etc. at each health center.

Assists in the development of job descriptions and evaluation tools for clinical support staff in collaboration with Human Resources. Will effectively complete employee performance reviews for appropriate clinical support staff which involves physician/provider and practice manager's input.

Provides orientation, teaching, and guidance to staff to improve quality and quantity of service.

Approves duty assignments to ensure adequate coverage at sites. This may involve collaboration with the Director of Operations and Practice Manager, when necessary.

Responsible/ensures the delivery of patient care for each health center, as needed. This may involve filling in for a clinical support staff member if no other option is available.

Assists in the preparation and management of budgets for clinical support staff/services and clinical inventory.

Overseeing and approving the ordering of medical supplies for each health center. This includes the management of clinical inventories.

Assist the Senior Leadership Team in achieving objectives/goals of Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and other grant projects. Ensures the accurate and timely collecting of clinical date required by funding sources when required.

Plans educational programs for clinical support staff, related professional workers, and community groups to meet needs of the health centers.

Oversees the Vaccines for Children program and the Indigent Medication program.

Represents the Corporation at community activities and healthcare programs

Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervision of the clinical support staff at all locations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws in conjunction with Medical Director and Senior Leadership Team. Responsibilities will include interviewing, hiring process recommendations, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing employee complaints and resolving problems.

> Demonstrated knowledge of the practice of professional nursing

> Demonstrated knowledge of ambulatory care procedures including assessment, diagnostic and treatment procedures

> Proven administrative, management and leadership abilities

> Excellent written and oral communication skills

> Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with professional staff, management, co-workers, patients and the general public

> Ability to prioritize tasks and plan/assign work flow to accomplish organization goals

> Ability to facilitate training

> Flexibility (& ability) to schedule work to meet established deadlines

> Ability to travel regularly to MedLink practice sites

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an approved program for Registered Nurse or Bachelor's degree in Nursing and minimum of five years' experience including significant supervisory and management responsibilities. Experience in a healthcare network environment preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia

Certification in BLS or higher.
