The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine seeks a hand surgeon holding an MD (or equivalent) for a faculty position with open rank and tenure status. Candidate must be board certified or board eligible in orthopaedic surgery and eligible to be licensed in Alabama. Candidate must have completed a fellowship in orthopaedic surgery, have in-depth clinical knowledge, and excellent communication skills, and be highly motivated, and compassionate to all patients. Dedication to teaching and training resident physicians is expected. Rank, salary, and tenure status commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is dedicated to maintaining excellence in clinical care, education, and research. With fellowship-trained subspecialists in all areas of orthopaedic surgery, we offer state-of-the-art care for patients with the most simple or complex orthopaedic conditions. Our training programs, including programs for students, residents, and fellows, are nationally recognized and focus on developing the future leaders of our profession. Finally, our faculty conducts innovative research, which concentrates on developing new knowledge that directly improves the outcomes of our patients.
