POSITION TITLE: Project Leader Associate
HIRING UNIT: University of Hawaii - West Oahu
LOCATION: Kapolei, HI
POSITION TYPE: Casual Hire
HOURLY RATE: $32.00 per hour, not to exceed 19 hours per week.
OTHER CONDITIONS: Position is expected to start June 2, 2024 and not to exceed June 30, 2024.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists principal investigator or project leader in delivering the outcomes of the Ola I Ka Aina project by developing at least four (4) modular research projects, rooted in Native Hawaiian culture, based on the research site at Kuhialoko and its surrounding.
- Assists principal investigator or project leader in delivering the outcomes of the Ola I Ka Aina project by training students who have the skill set to conduct scientific research, develop data sets for analysis and utilize Traditional Ecological Knowledge in management and restoration efforts.
- Assists principal investigator or project leader in delivering the outcomes of the Ola I Ka Aina in the establishment of field-based research and restoration site that enhances engagement of students in hands-on learning opportunities, utilizes real world data for ecological restoration efforts.
- Assists principal investigator in preparing the annual and final report to the grantor.
- Assists principal investigator in writing up the results of the studies and preparing them for publication.
- Assisting principal investigator in the logistics of the project, including communication with collaborators, students, evaluators, and preparing of annual and final reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a Master or PhD degree in math or science or related field and 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for research; or equivalent education/training or experience.
- Able to run analysis and make recommendations.
- Must be able to work with moderate supervision and perform assignments with little or no instructions to achieve expected results.
