Hardware Project Manager | Dayton, OH

Full-time | Contract (temp-to-hire)

Hybrid (2 days remote/3 days in office)

Kelly® Engineering is seeking a Hardware Engineering Project Manager for a long-term temp-to-hire contract position at an industrial technology client in Dayton, OH. Pay Rate: $50-65/hr depending on experience

Overview

This client is transforming the way the world works by delivering products and services that connect the physical and digital worlds.

In this role, you’ll lead individual programs and projects which involve multi-functional, distributed teams and suppliers to successfully plan and execute product development programs within the established client phase gate process (T5: scope, design, develop, scale, launch).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring that programs and projects managed directly or within the team meet established schedules, cost targets, and contractual objectives by effectively managing resources, team dynamics, and change control processes while providing contingency plans and problem resolutions as required.

  • The Project Manager is the owner of the schedule and must work with each of the multi-functional areas to ensure the product is introduced on time.

  • Develop a clear understanding of the project scope and project deliverables outlined in requirements documents and provided by project stakeholders. Ensure that the Product Specification meets these requirements and all other binding or non-binding contractual obligations.

  • Directs the development of project documentation including NPVs, system diagrams, specifications, DFMEAs, Engineering Drawings, RoHS Certs, PFMEAs, Control Plans, and project milestone presentations.

  • Keep project milestones updated in our resource and project management software.

  • Communicate regularly with management regarding the status of current projects.

  • Proactively monitor project needs, identify project risks and put in place and execute on mitigation plans.

  • Organize and lead regular scheduled project meetings to identify required actions and its timely completion.

  • Ensure all Manufacturing requirements are being met.

  • When required, lead continuous product improvement activities.

Skills

  • Proven experience in backlog planning and scheduling.

  • Proven hands-on technical project management experience with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently is required.

  • Proven experience in proactively identifying and resolving issues early while maintaining relationships.

  • Experience working internationally with diverse cultures is preferred.

  • Proven experience with routine project communications.

  • Leadership qualities with high energy that demonstrates the ability to work well with diverse groups of people in a way that motivates them to achieve common objectives.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly developed analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.

  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills and a flexible approach to working in a changing environment.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with aggressive deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field (mechanical, electrical, industrial)

  • 6 years direct experience in an engineering environment with hardware, components, IMUs, lasers, or sensors experience

  • 3+ years experience in cross-functional project teams and organizations.

  • PMP certification desired

Travel for this role is expected to be less than 10% (local travel).
