Physical Requirements:This position requires standard office setting practices including extensive computer use, sitting at a desk for long periods of time, and reading online materials. This position may include navigating to different sites across campus carrying materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
Shift:Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Job Summary:The Proposal Development Office (PDO) is seeking a Proposal Development Officer to provide university-wide pre-award proposal development services to researchers. The Proposal Development Officer works within a team-based environment to support the university’s strategic initiatives to grow research by serving as a primary liaison with principal investigators interested in pursuing extramural funding, by facilitating development of researcher relationships with agency stakeholders, and by providing grant-related consultation and proposal development support. Specific responsibilities are to monitor and disseminate funding announcements from governmental, private, and professional sources; assist researchers in developing competitive grant applications for extramural support; assist in proposal planning and development; draft/write selected proposal components; critically review proposal narratives; and train researchers through grant-related workshops. The position requires some travel to remain current with best practices in research development and funding agency research priorities. Competitive applicants will have a track record of success in pre-award proposal development spanning diverse sponsors and/or federal agencies as well as the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritize work in a deadline-driven environment. Pertinent skills include information management and organization, networking, strong writing and interpersonal skills, teaching/training expertise, diplomacy, as well as the ability to work independently and to take initiative. In addition, this position requires the ability to interact effectively with a variety of people on and off campus and to work with tact and judgment in dealing with agency and UK personnel and information. Qualified candidates may be eligible for a hybrid schedule of two days on campus, 3 days remote. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:
