The Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations (OUIO) administers Ohio's unemployment insurance program, which provides short-term income to unemployed workers who lose their jobs through no fault of their own. It reduces the hardship felt by families during periods of temporary unemployment and bolsters the local economies by maintaining the purchasing power of the unemployed worker. What You’ll D o

You'll work with staff from the business program and IT to develop reports and dashboards to efficiently produce data requirements for internal and external partners. You will coordinate with business and data experts to resolve complex business problems with data. Responsibilities include:

  • Writing code for queries.
  • Validating data & applying business logic in various reporting platforms.
  • Using appropriate software to analyze and interpret data based on requestor needs.
  • Documenting processes.

You need:

  • Experience with writing code query scripts for data requests.
  • Organization and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Initiative to solve business problems with data logic in the most efficient method.
  • The ability to handle multiple competing priorities and remain controlled in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to collaborate and work well with others.
  • Skills to communicate progress with supervisor, team, and requestor.

Challenges:

  • Interpreting the business problem into the data requirement.
  • Identifying the best tool to convey the message.
  • Balancing priorities for the data requests.

Schedule: Position is currently remote (subject to change in accordance with teleworking policy). Standard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. as approved by the supervisor.

Travel: Travel happens a few times a year for state meetings and training. In addition, meetings for the Unemployment Insurance Benefits and Appeals Modernization project require in-person participation in Columbus, Ohio.

Qualifications


The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:

Option 1 :

  • 48 months experience in data analytics or statistical analysis or research methods.

Or Option 2 :

  • Completion of associate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field.
  • AND 30 months experience in data analytics, statistical analysis, or research methods.

Or Option 3 :

  • Completion of undergraduate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field.
  • AND 24 months experience in data analytics, statistical analysis, or research methods.

Or Option 4:

  • Completion of graduate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field.
  • AND 12 months experience in data analytics, statistical analysis, or research methods.

Or Option 5:

  • 36 months experience as a Data Analytics Associate, 66930.

Or

  • Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Pay Information

This position is in the State of Ohio’s OCSEA Pay Schedule, Pay Range 33. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $30.55 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.

Telework Policy

ODJFS may require occasional in-person meetings for training or other operational needs. You will have access to ODJFS shared workspaces, if needed.
