Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is currently seeking an Security Manager for Faith Mission in Lancaster, Ohio. Faith Mission is a homeless shelters in Lancaster, Ohio , providing meals and shelter to men, women and Veterans with dignity and compassion.

What will I do as a Security Manager with Lutheran Social Services?

• Investigates & responds to security incidents or concerns according to LSS Faith Mission of Fairfield County/Lutheran Social Services policies and procedures. This includes any incidents or injuries that occur during "off-shift" hours
• Uses Agency vehicles to transport clients, employees and materials as necessary
• Directly supervises Security Staff employees if applicable. Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Agency's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems on a timely basis
• Performs perimeter checks of LSS Faith Mission facilities to monitor security and safety of physical properties and to guard against loitering.
• Works with law enforcement and other local security teams to ensure ultimate safety and security of facilities and the neighborhood. Procures trespass agreements and attends legal hearings for trespassed individuals
• Performs internal inspections of LSS Faith Mission facilities to ensure the security of the building and to check for any security concerns. Monitors suspicious behavior and/or criminal activity & communicates. any violations of program guidelines to Associate Director of Shelter Safety, Shelter Manager, Engagement Staff, FMF Director, or Human Resources as appropriate
• Partners with FMF Staff to de-escalate any incidents and/or threats of violence
• Tracks all occurrences, accidents, or other unusual activity in Security Log and creates shift report of all incidents occurring on shift. Proactively communicates any issues or concerns to on-coming shift Security Officer and/or other staff
• Conducts searches according to LSS Faith Mission policies & procedures, for Reasonable Suspicion, or as directed by Shelter management.
• Escorts staff, volunteers, visitors, and other persons as necessary between buildings, parking areas etc.
• Develops the security schedule, special projects, and reports, etc.
• FMF Security Manager will collaborate with security teams across LSS Human Services.

Requirements for a Security Manager with Lutheran Social Services:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in security or safety role required.
• 1-3 years previous managerial/supervisory experience with managing a security team preferred.
• Proven ability to problem-solve and exercise good judgment.
• Acquire and maintain certification as OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) trainer.
• Effective judgment and problem sensitivity skills in order to assess situations and manage to favorable outcomes.
• Ability to understand and apply policies and procedures.
• Able to communicate and work with a diverse group of individuals & in tense situations.
• Ability to handle and respond to conflict situations using de-escalation techniques.
• Able to communicate respectfully with employees and clients.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Experience with computers and MS Office applications.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and insurance.
• Ability to direct other Security personnel & staff.
• Able to manage available resources effectively throughout a shift.
• Valid Ohio driver's license and ability to meet LSS insurance standards required.
