Job Description - SENIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST

Salary Range: $92,456-$123,177

This position works from the Sedalia branch of CORE Electric Cooperative. This position does not work remotely.

We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst. This role is a pivotal within the finance department, responsible for providing advanced financial analysis, strategic insights, and decision support to senior management. This position requires strong analytical skills, financial acumen, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning and Analysis:
    • Lead the financial planning process, including annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning.
    • Develop comprehensive financial models to support strategic initiatives, business growth, and operational improvements.
    • Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to evaluate potential outcomes and mitigate risks.
  • Performance Analysis and Reporting:
    • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to assess business performance and trends.
    • Prepare and present detailed financial reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
    • Provide insightful commentary and variance analysis to explain financial results and identify areas for improvement.
  • Strategic Decision Support:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate investment opportunities, pricing strategies, and capital allocation decisions.
    • Conduct profitability analysis and return on investment (ROI) assessments for new products, markets, or business ventures.
    • Assist in developing business cases and financial models to support strategic initiatives and acquisitions.
  • Financial Forecasting and Risk Management:
    • Develop robust financial forecasts and scenarios to support business planning and decision-making.
    • Assess and mitigate financial risks by monitoring market trends, industry dynamics, and regulatory changes.
    • Identify opportunities to optimize capital structure, working capital management, and cash flow forecasting.
  • Process Improvement and Optimization:
    • Streamline financial processes and reporting systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
    • Implement best practices and tools for financial analysis, budgeting, and performance measurement.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize resource allocation and cost management.
  • Leadership and Mentorship:
    • Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior financial analysts and team members.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for financial analysis, technical expertise, and industry knowledge.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture focused on professional development and growth.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, planning, or corporate finance roles.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis techniques.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strategic mindset, with the ability to think critically, solve problems, and drive results.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., ERP systems, Excel, BI tools).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Financial Planning and Analytics Certification (FPAC).
  • Experience with Power BI, Planning Analytics, or other dashboarding software.
