Job Description - Senior Loss Control Representative

The Senior Loss Control Representative will a ssist in the acquisition and retention of profitable business by identifying and evaluating hazards and controls for new and existing accounts reduce and control potential losses. Key functions will include but not limited to:

 

  • Conducts surveys and services accounts by identifying and evaluating hazards and controls pertaining to all lines of coverage.
  • Services existing accounts according to mutually agreed upon plans developed for each account.
  • Submits recommendations to improve conditions which will mitigate or control the hazards identified and follows-up on recommendations.
  • Assists accounts on potential exposures and promotes the value of Loss Control and sound safety program in the acquisition and retention of profitable business.
  • Appraises properties to determine replacement costs for fire insurance coverage.
  • Monitors own workload to ensure timely service and meet deadlines.
  • Participates in agency visits and staff meetings as needed.
  • Provides technical assistance to the claim department on losses.
  • Provides loss control services for all departments and assists other departments in their efforts to write and retain profitable business.
  • Coordinates the collection and dissemination of material related to specialized technical areas assigned.
  • Participates in training and self-development and may mentor/train others within the department.
  • Meets or exceeds Department Standards for production, quality and timeliness of survey work.
  • Keeps abreast of industry news and developments.
  • Exhibits proficiency in all types of surveys for all lines and programs.
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with a preferred emphasis in occupational/industrial safety, agricultural science, engineering, or insurance. 
  • 8-10 years of in-depth technical experience in risk control disciplines. Emphasis on complex property and sprinkler assessment knowledge highly desired.
  • CSP, CFPS, CDS, CIH certification desired. Completion of or working toward AINS, AIM, ARM, CPCU or similar professional insurance designation preferred.
  • Strong customer orientation and interpersonal and communication skills including presentation/training skills, with the ability to mentor and get results through others.
  • Must possess analysis and problem resolution skills and the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage your schedule to meet and exceed production, quality, and time service goals.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; company business systems and various analytical tools to evaluate data.
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis and work outside normal work schedule to fulfill responsibilities.
  • Valid driver’s license required for travel.
