Your Responsibilities

As a Software Test Engineer , for the John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group in Urbandale, IA you will provide Software Engineering Test & Validation of John Deere's line of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) StarFire Receivers. In addition, you will...

• Collaborate with Software Test Engineers and Software Product Engineers to diagnose and solve software defects efficiently and effectively.
• Perform product verification and validation (PV&V) in a lab environment and on various John Deere machine platforms.  
• Develop product level test plans based on StarFire Receiver system Requirements.
• Evaluate and interpret StarFire Receiver performance, generate detailed test reports, and perform 1st level root cause analysis of software defects.
• Frequent travel to the Test Farm, 80% of time performing field test cases for Starfire Receiver validation.
• Work with major agricultural machinery in an experimental field test environment.
• Work independently and as a team with Engineers to verify and validate GNSS Receiver product functionality and performance.

What Skills You Need

• 1 or more year(s) in GNSS StarFire Receivers performance testing and test plan development.
• 1 or more year(s) of experience with software development life cycle.
• 1 or more year(s) of experience in test plan creation, test execution, and reporting/tracking software defects
• Experience with operating John Deere precision agriculture product
• Demonstrated experience with CAN communication.
• Strong software analytical skills; problem solving and conveying complex features/issues to engineers in other disciplines.
• Experience with validation and/or verification testing of system requirements and regression-level testing on StarFire Receivers.
• Demonstrated effective analytical, reporting, & presentation skills.
• Strong experience with Team Foundation Server (TFS)

What Makes You Stand Out

• GNSS Software test validation experience with John Deere StarFire Receivers
• Experience presenting Demos to John Deere product team on software features.
• Strong Experience in Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Strong knowledge of Precision Agriculture equipment.
• Experience with performance evaluation of GNSS StarFire Receiver testing.
• Demonstrated experience with CAN communication.
• Experience with troubleshooting Hardware related issues.
• Experience with Agile Software Development methodology.
• Experience with working with cross functional teams in John Deere

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Systems Technology, or Agriculture Engineering related field.
