Onsite/Remote: Partial Remote Position

This position is eligible for a partial telework schedule arrangement at the present time.  The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

Your Responsibilities

As a Communications Specialist for John Deere World Headquarters located in Moline, IL, you will provide detailed communication plans to ensure key audiences receive key messages in regards to current projects, events, or changes impacting the business. In addition, you will: 

  • Develop strategic communication content that impacts the knowledge and understanding of key projects, events or business changes. Works with multiple media such as video, design, print.
  • Oversee project plans and key milestones for projects that are integral for the enterprise/division/unit and supporting the company's business objectives.
  • Develop and manage a variety of communication tools to ensure key messages reach appropriate audiences (internal/external). 
  • Write, develop and coordinate unit/division/function initiative messages (i.e., presentations, letters, etc.) for senior leadership for global distribution to ensure timely, accurate, aligned communication is executed in a way that meets Company and audience requirements.

What Skills You Need

  • 1-5 years of experience working in communications.
  • Knowledge of the communication planning process and measurement techniques. Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge to manage projects effectively.
  • Understanding of the business operations and the organizational structure. Performs more complex functions, understands principles, may teach others.
  • Understanding of communication theories, especially employee/internal communications.
  • Effective writing skills and editing, including grammatical usage, persuasive copy and style.
  • Knowledgeable about inter-company politics, structure, strategy relationships, parameters, forecasts.
  • Experience with video production and social media. 

What Makes You Stand Out

  • 1-5 years experience as a writer through lower level positions within organization, work as a journalist or writer, or work in marketing communications.
  • A strong background in communications, public relations or marketing communications. 
  • 1-5 years project management experience including plan development, budget management, team management, requirements gathering, delivery and deployment.
  • Cross functional work experience in multiple areas, i.e., accounting, product engineering, quality, manufacturing ops, warehousing/ distribution, production employee supervision, supply management, marketing, HR, industrial engineering, etc. (Experience in three areas)

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Communications/Journalism discipline or related discipline
