Under direct supervision, the purpose of the position is to fill and process materials and supply orders received from school locations of the district. Employees in this classification perform duties such as accessing and loading items for distribution, maintaining and tracking associated paperwork and documentation, and conducting physical inventories. Incumbents generally function in an entry level capacity, with work emphasis on acquiring knowledge of warehousing receipt, storage and distribution activities. Essential functions as outlined herein are performed according to the area of assignment. Performs related work as directed.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS in a positive light. Receives orders from school locations for a wide variety of warehouse/store items, i.e., textbooks, custodial supplies, equipment, construction materials, forms, furniture. Prepares orders for distribution according to established modes of transportation, i.e., pulling, staging, and loading trucks/vans. Performs restocking duties for those items accessed and pulled; monitors accuracy of stock as such relates to stock and identification numbers, quantities, and location. Identifies and removes damaged materials; informs supervisor accordingly. Performs receiving duties, to include verification of items received, accurate quantities, and proper storage according to warehouse/storage procedures and standards. Operates various storage and transport equipment and items, i.e., electric and propane powered forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks. Performs general warehouse/store cleaning and maintenance duties to ensure cleanliness, order and safety in all receipt, storage, and distribution areas. Provides general information for in person inquiries concerning warehouse and store processes and procedures. Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position. Responsible for timely and accurate information they maintain as part of their job responsibilities. While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members. Performs related duties as directed. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by up to six (6) months previous store keeping or warehousing experience with familiarity in automated inventory systems, with ability to fulfill the work’s physical requirements if applicable to assigned area; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Requires successful completion of forklift training if applicable to assigned functional area. **Effective August 24, 2012: All new hires to this position must successfully complete the Industrial Physical Capability Screening (IPCS); previous incumbents holding this position without a break in service are not required to pass this test. PERFORMANCE APTITUDES Data Utilization : Requires the ability to compile, assemble, copy, record and/or transcribe data and/or information according to a prescribed schema or plan. Includes judging whether readily observable functional, structural or compositional characteristics are similar to or divergent from prescribed standards, procedures or routines. Human Interaction : Requires the ability to exchange information in obtaining information or clarifying details.
Performs such within well-established policies, procedures and standards. Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization : Requires the ability to safely and effectively operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of storage and stocking devices such as forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks. Verbal Aptitude : Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive and design data and information. Mathematical Aptitude : Requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Functional Reasoning : Requires ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action. Situational Reasoning : Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving a variety of generally pre-defined duties which are often characterized by frequent change. ADA COMPLIANCE Physical Ability : Tasks involve the ability to exert very heavy physical effort in very heavy work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of heavy objects and materials (up to 100 pounds) and occasionally heavier items (100 pounds or over). Sensory Requirements : Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Environmental Factors : Tasks are regularly performed with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dust, odors, wetness, humidity, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, and toxic/poisonous agents.
