Job Description - Intern - HIV

HJF is seeking an Intern  to perform laboratory and technical assistance to senior technical and professional staff in investigating the antibody binding-site concentrations and binding affinities of polyclonal antibodies in sera samples towards targets.

 

This position will be in support of the Laboratory of Adjuvant and Antigen Research (LAAR)/Adjuvant Formulation Section (AFS). Successful candidate will be involved in determining antibody binding-site concentrations in sera samples from animal studies, under the supervision of a scientist. The intern will also be involved in assisting the preparation and optimization of liposome formulations, and characterization by biophysical techniques.

Note: This site requires that non U.S. Citizens reside in the United States for three of the five recent years. 

 

  • Maintains compliance with established laboratory safety and other procedures.
  • Assists in assembling equipment and in preparing materials, reagents, and samples for experiments.
  • Ensures the proper disposal of infectious and hazardous materials.
  • Applies quality control measures as outlined/required by the protocol. Provides basic data analysis.
  • Performs laboratory research projects, including collection and organization of data, and maintaining databases. Makes detailed observations on experiments.
  • Assists in the preparation of reports, and research summaries.
  • Follows instructions and standard operating procedures to perform expected tasks.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of standard laboratory techniques.
  • Ability to follow general instructions.
  • Knowledgeable in Word, Excel and GraphPad prism.
  • Good communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.

Work Environment  

  •   This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting.

Some positions or sites may require that the incumbent be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination may be required.
