Tax Intern

HCM Wealth Advisors & CPAs provides comprehensive wealth management tax and accounting services to help successful professionals and business owners retire well. While we are busy helping our clients to achieve a better future, we are also looking toward the upcoming tax season with an opportunity to develop the next generation of accountants. We are seeking a well-rounded and resourceful tax intern for the 2025 tax season. This opportunity is flexible in hours, with either full-time or part-time available, working with your class schedule. This paid intern will specialize in preparing individual income tax returns (Form 1040), estimate vouchers, and extensions. Assisting the administrative team, the intern will be developed to become proficient in the tax return process: intake, organizing documents, completing a tax return, and returning files to the client. The intern will also gain exposure to retirement planning, related to tax reporting, through communication with our wealth advisors.
Other Responsibilities

• Shadow Tax professionals of all levels
• Present complete, timely, and accurate client deliverables in an efficient manner
• Learn, develop, and maintain an understanding of relevant computer software applications
• Compliance to the Firm’s quality control standards
• Support the administrative team with various tasks
• Assist with additional projects as needed

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a tax-related field with intention of sitting for the CPA exam after graduation
• Possess strong organizational and time management skills
• Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to details
• Effective in communicating to a variety of audiences both written and oral
• Motivated to learn and improve in a team setting
• Comfortable working with Microsoft Word and Excel
