Are you a transportation engineering, business administration, public affairs, or planning student seeking a rewarding experience conducting research with a world-class engineering firm? The ARA Transportation Infrastructure Division (TID) is seeking paid research interns available to work part-time throughout the school year and possibly more during summer months. Interns may work with our research staff in Champaign, IL or Madison, WI.

Under direct supervision, you will:

  • Help collect, prepare, and organize data and information on research or contracting activities in state departments of transportation (DOTs).
  • Prepare charts and preliminary analysis to support interviews with research and engineering stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a literature review and desk scan on transportation engineering research efforts.
  • Support other project tasks as necessary.

Additionally, upon graduation, interns with outstanding performance frequently move into full-time positions at ARA.

Requirements:

  • Must be pursuing study in civil engineering, construction management, urban planning, business, or public administration. Course experience in transportation-specific programs preferred.
  • Must be available and willing to work during the school year and during summer months as needed.
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with database design is preferred.
