Job Description - Fall Co-Op/Intern

Title:  Fall 2024 Co-Op/Intern - New Construction Project Management  
Company: Tampa Electric Company  
State and City: Florida - Tampa
Shift: 8 Hr. X 5 Days

 

 

The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.

 

Position Summary/Details:

This position will be supporting TECO’s New Construction Project Management department. This individual will be responsible for supporting project managers working on Electric Distribution projects throughout the TECO service territory. The successful individual will have a great level of organization and great communication skills to compliment the project managers for being successful in delivering their projects on time and on budget.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Work alongside Project Managers to effectively communicate deadlines and project schedules to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Responsible for Fault Current work requests and the communication to the customer.
  • Visit project sites and assist the project managers with field meetings.
  • Assist internally with document attainment for new work requests.

 

Physical Location of Co-op: TECO PLAZA 702 N Franklin Tampa FL

Working Conditions: Mostly in a normal office environment

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.

Co-Op Requirements:

  • To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

Open to any bachelor level degree, but prefer one of the following:

  • Engineering
  • Project Management
  • Business
  • Construction Management

 

Year in School : Freshman or Sophomore

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Microsoft Office Products
  • AutoCad
  • Bluebeam

 

Preferred Availability:

  • Full-time (40 hours)
  • Part – Time (30 – 40 hours)
  • Part – Time (20-30 hours)
