POSITION SUMMARY:

HIAS seeks a highly organized and detailed-oriented Human Resources Intern to assist the Human Resources department with onboarding, offboarding and employee management related tasks and projects. In return, the Human Resources Intern will gain hands-on experience with a small Human Resources team at a global organization.

Note, this position is unpaid but may be pursued for academic credit. We ask that applicants be available for approximately 15-20 hours per week, starting in June 2023 and ending in August 2023.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists Human Resources Coordinator with the organization and filing of physical employee files.
  • Researches and supports activities for employee engagement.
  • Assists in gathering materials and information for auditing purposes.
  • Assists with content review for Learning Management System.
  • Researches and recommends ideas for Progressive Discipline System.
  • Updates content on the Human Resources intranet page as needed.
  • Coordinates Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for onboarding, offboarding, auditing and other processes and procedures.
  • Participates in onboarding new employees.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a related field required.
  • Ability to come to the Silver Spring, Maryland office at least 2 times per week.
  • Excellent technical and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated self-starter, creative thinker and problem-solver.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong commitment to serving vulnerable individuals.
