Job Description - Marketing & Communications Intern

S&B is actively searching for a Marketing & Communications Intern to join our team for the summer. The Marketing & Communications Intern will gain valuable firsthand experience across all aspects of Marketing & Communications, including internal communications, public relations, marketing, and events. Joining our team will provide you with a challenging and rewarding environment where you can showcase your skills and contribute to our success. EDUCATION

 

Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations/Journalism or another related field.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 

Internship classification normally requires completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies from an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations/Journalism, or another related field. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams). Ideal candidate will be self-motivated and a positive team player, with ability to adapt and learn quickly. Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is also key to success.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior internship experience supporting social media, public relations or marketing programs is a plus.
  • Experience with graphic design programs (such as InDesign, Canva, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Must possess the eligibility to work and remain in the U.S. without sponsorship.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO ROTATE AS FOLLOWS

 

S&B’s Marketing Communications Intern will serve as key team member, supporting both internal and external marketing and communications initiatives, including employee communications, public relations, social media, marketing, and events.

 

Key responsibilities include:

Communications

  • Write/edit articles for internal company newsletters and announcements.
  • Assist with creation, layout, and distribution of internal communications through PoliteMail system.
  • Track, monitor, and report on key communications analytics.
  • Support design and creation of visual content for S&B TV, an important communications tool for employee engagement and awareness.

Social Media & Content Development

  • Create compelling social media messaging and graphics for LinkedIn to reinforce S&B’s brand positioning and expertise.

Event Marketing

  • Assist in the planning and execution of internal and external events, including development of key materials, promotional items, campaigns, and related logistics.

Marketing Projects

  • Provide support for other various marketing and communications projects and tasks as needed.
  • Attend various departmental and vendor meetings in support of key projects and responsibilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Strong written and verbal communications skills are critical for this role. Success in the role requires effective interpersonal communication and relationship development skills, working alongside all levels of personnel. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

This role requires normal hearing (uncorrected or corrected), the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, balance, good vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting up to 25 pounds may occasionally be required.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

This internship will be a hybrid role, including onsite work at S&B’s headquarters office and occasional remote work requiring connectivity. The work environment will be in a business office where employee may sit for most of the day and may experience moderate noise levels. Business casual attire is a requirement in the office environment.
