Immerse yourself in producing captivating content that highlights the lives of over 300 chimpanzee residents. Collaborate with our dedicated team to share compelling stories, gain invaluable real-world experience, and enhance your creative portfolio. This summer, dive into the world of social media by spearheading the launch and growth of our sanctuary's TikTok channel. If you're passionate about creativity, adore animals, and are fluent in TikTok culture, let's work together to make 'ChimpTok' a sensation! Our Summer 2024 internship runs from May/June to September 1, offering flexible start and end dates to accommodate school schedules. Choose between part-time or full-time positions, with the possibility of occasional weekend or after-hours work for special events. While primarily remote, this role includes on-site work at our sanctuary in Keithville, Louisiana, with hybrid options available. Team Description: Join our Development and Communications team, where we lead marketing, fundraising, and communications efforts for the sanctuary. We convey the sanctuary's mission and the unique personalities of our chimpanzee residents across various platforms, maintaining a fun, lighthearted, and approachable brand voice. As the Social Media Intern, you'll collaborate closely with our content team to curate and manage content across our digital channels, with a special focus on launching and nurturing our TikTok presence. Responsibilities: As the Social Media Intern, your responsibilities include: Establishing and shaping our sanctuary's presence on TikTok, maintaining a consistent posting schedule and engaging with our audience regularly.
Staying abreast of social media trends and creating content that showcases the chimpanzees' lives while aligning with current online trends.
Collaborating with sanctuary staff to capture compelling content and directing staff involvement as necessary.
Producing and editing high-quality videos and photos to meet content requirements.
Crafting engaging copy and captions that reflect our brand voice and overseeing the post review process.
Managing content scheduling and community engagement while also contributing ideas and content for other digital channels and our website.
Collaborating with the Content Officer and Content and Design Specialist to align content with organizational priorities and editorial calendars. Qualifications: We're looking for candidates with the following qualifications: Proficiency with Meta Business Suite, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Sprout Social, and Canva is preferred.
Active presence on TikTok with a keen understanding of current trends.
Experience in shooting and editing high-quality videos and photos using DSLR cameras.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to pitch ideas, collaborate effectively, and provide direction throughout the content production process.
Excellent research abilities and familiarity with social media analytics and reporting.
Proficiency in content management systems, word processing applications, and image/video editing software.
Pursuing or recently completed a degree related to communications, media, public relations, digital media, or a related field.
Proof of a negative TB test and current MMR, Tetanus, and COVID vaccinations are required, and applicants must be over 18 years old. Location: Hybrid options are available, with interns partially based at Chimp Haven in Keithville, LA. Housing & Stipend: This internship offers a stipend of $125 per week for the duration of the internship period. On-site intern housing may be available, requiring a $200 refundable security deposit and a $75 non-refundable cleaning fee. A personal vehicle is required (non-negotiable).
