Purpose As a Communications & Marketing Intern, you will play a vital role in supporting our major talent initiatives by developing and refining communication strategies to enhance member and community engagement with UpSkill Houston and One Houston Together. Ideal Candidate We are seeking a curious and creative communicator with a passion for fostering community growth and improving quality of life in the Houston region. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual capable of meeting goals and deadlines with high-quality work. This internship offers valuable practical experience and skill development to support your educational and professional journey. Candidates with business communications, public relations, or marketing experience, particularly juniors or seniors in good academic standing, are encouraged to apply. Intern Tasks You will collaborate with the One Houston Together and UpSkill Houston teams to develop and optimize communication strategies, focusing on increasing participation and engagement. Your responsibilities will include: Crafting compelling content to enhance brand awareness and articulate value propositions.
Creating impactful storytelling to engage business and community stakeholders.
Developing social media and marketing content to connect residents with job opportunities and engage business leaders.
Assisting in email marketing campaigns to boost attendance and participation.
Generating post-event recaps and content for various marketing channels.
Producing video testimonials for social media platforms and our website. Term, Time Commitment, Attire This internship is available for summer 2024, with the possibility of extension into the fall. You will be expected to commit 15-20 hours per week, with a flexible hybrid work schedule (in-office and remote). Business casual attire is required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The following skills are desirable for success in this role: Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with a focus on consumer communication.
Ability to develop engaging content through persuasion and storytelling.
Strong social media and computer proficiency, with experience in MS Office applications.
Video creation, editing, and graphic design skills are a plus. Stipend A stipend is available for this internship, and the Partnership will cover parking expenses or provide a Metro Q Card for transportation.
