2023 Computational Chemistry Summer Intern

Frontier Medicines is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Summer Intern in the Computational Chemistry group. Our group utilizes a variety of techniques ranging from classical approaches such as high-throughput screening and docking to ab initio methods for assessing interaction energies and reactivity properties. We work closely with Frontier’s experimental teams to validate our approaches and form predictive models to guide design. The Summer Intern will contribute to expanding our computational pipelines while actively leveraging those developments for drug design. This position is located in South San Francisco.

What will you be doing?

• Using computational chemistry software in drug design
• Expanding the predictive capacity of our computational pipeline
• Analyzing and interpreting experimental and theoretical data
• Scripting (Python and/or bash) and working in an HPC environment.
• Communicating results to the team with their own interpretation and unique ideas

What we are looking for:

• Currently enrolled in a graduate program to complete a degree in computational sciences, physical sciences and /or life sciences.
• Experience with computational chemistry tools and / or proficiency in Python
• Interest in computer aided drug design and the biotech industry.
• Willingness to learn and adapt quickly, take initiative and thrive in a dynamic start-up environment.
• A professional commitment to excellence and a focus on scientific rigor
• Legally authorized to work in the US.
