What Will You Be Doing?


The Safety internship is designed to provide enrolled students insight, and exposure into the operations of a Safety Department within an airline. The intern will work closely with departmental management in assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.This internship is for Fall 2026 -9/9/2026 - 12/11/2026 based in Denver, CO.


Essential Functions



  • Assist the Sr. Manager of Operational Safety Program’s with the Company’s Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) and Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA)

  • Assist the Sr. Manager of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Internal Evaluation Program with the performance of SMS and IEP with identifying non-conformance with regulation or company policy throughout the Company.

  • Assist the Manager of Regulatory Compliance, with gathering information for FAA regulatory requests

  • Assist the Manager of Occupational and Environmental Compliance in researching and analyzing data regarding regulatory matters concerning OSHA, EPA, DOT, and Hazardous Materials

  • Receive, compile, and analyze aviation safety related reports

  • Prepare and write reports, documents, spreadsheets, and correspondence 


Other Functions



  • Assist in the dissemination of safety promotional items resulting from the Aviation Safety Department

  • Assist the Internal Evaluator - Safety Compliance, with internal and external IOSA, including liaising with International Air Transport Association (IATA) auditors

  • Promote safety as required by Part 5, subpart E

  • Compile and publish periodical distributions from departmental staff


Qualifications



  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelor’s degree program from an accredited four-year institution of higher learning

  • Have enough hours completed to be considered a Junior or Senior

  • Possess a minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Possess broad general aviation education


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Proficient verbal, written, and presentation communication skills

  • Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as a member of a team

  • Able to provide own housing and transportation during internship

  • Standard office equipment, including PC, copier, fax machine, printer 


Work Environment       



  • Typical office environment, adequately heated and cooled

  • Very occasional work outside, including in inclement weather

  • Very occasional exposure to elevated noise levels

  • Very occasional weekend work, as required

  • Very occasional airport tarmac and hangar work, as required

  • Generally, not required


Supervision Received



  • Close Supervision: The incumbent is assigned duties according to specified procedures and receives detailed instructions.  Work is checked frequently.
