Job Description - 2026 MoMA Summer Internship - Drawings and Prints

About the Summer Internship Program

The Summer Internship Program provides undergraduate and graduate students and beginning professionals with practical experience in a specific area of museum work at The Museum of Modern Art. Interns participate in weekly professional development activities designed to increase understanding of the Museum’s various collections, exhibitions, and departments. The Museum hosts approximately 25 interns in various departments across our institution. Participants may arrange for academic credit through their school, but it is not a requirement.

MoMA Summer 2026 internships require a commitment of four days per week. The schedule is Monday-Thursday, 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. One must have a minimum of two years of college completed (or equivalent) by June 2026 in order to apply.

All summer intern applications are due by Sunday, March 1st by 11:59 PM EST.

Duration:

June 8—August 13; Ten Weeks

Application Deadline:

March 1, 2026

Decision Notification:

April 20, 2026

Stipend:

$6,160

Department Projects & Tasks

The internship in the Department of Drawings and Prints will assist an Assistant Curator with research, imaging, cataloging, and general support for the Silverman Fluxus Collection. The intern will contribute to work on the Fluxus Working Group and the upcoming exhibition in MoMA’s Kravis Studio, with additional support to a Collection Specialist on acquisitions and documentation. The intern can expect:

  • To support the curatorial and collection management initiatives surrounding the Silverman Fluxus Collection.

  • To contribute to the research, imaging, and cataloging work that advances scholarly and public engagement with Fluxus.

  • To aid in preparations for Fluxus: The Sensorium, focusing on the interplay of performance, participation, and sensory experience within Fluxus practice.

  • To gain hands-on experience in curatorial workflows, including acquisitions, collection documentation, and archival integration.

This internship directly aligns with Fluxus: The Sensorium—a forthcoming curatorial initiative within MoMA’s Kravis Studio exploring Fluxus’s radical interdisciplinarity and the blurring of art and life through performance, sound, and sensory engagement. The project also supports the Museum’s ongoing work to activate and interpret the Silverman Fluxus Collection through research, conservation, and digital access.

Department Skillset Requirements

Candidates with an academic background in Art History or a related field. Strong research and writing skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; attention to detail; familiarity with museum cataloging systems or archival practices preferred. Interest in postwar and contemporary art, performance, or Fluxus is desirable but not required.
