Job Description - 2026 Summer Internship in Partnerships (Events)

About the Organization

The Asian American Foundation serves the Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community in their pursuit of belonging and prosperity that is free from discrimination, slander, and violence. Launched in 2021 in response to the rise in anti-Asian hate and to address the long-standing underinvestment in AANHPI communities, TAAF mobilizes to fight against hate and violence, reclaim our narratives and celebrate our stories by ensuring prosperity, safety and belonging. Through our high-impact initiatives, events, and investments in national and local nonprofits, we’re creating a permanent and irrevocable sense of belonging for millions of AANHPIs in the United States. About the Role

TAAF is excited to offer an internship program that will provide participants with challenging, meaningful, and real-world experience. Participants will support departments on a variety of high-stakes projects related to administrative support, process development and improvement, and project management. In addition to having a dedicated mentor, participants will receive access to leadership and professional growth activities to gain valuable career experience in a fast paced startup environment focused on social change.

The Partnerships Intern will be supporting the Events team while conducting research and organizing information and data related to various ongoing and newly established initiatives. The Partnerships intern will prepare and present a deck of findings to the Partnerships team and TAAF at large at the end of the summer.

Responsibilities

  • Research speakers and programmatic topics relevant to the events.
  • Maintain and update internal databases and spreadsheets related to events, partners, and donors.
  • Support general office operations, including organizing supplies, maintaining shared drives, and cataloging event materials and assets for NYC office.
  • Attend internal planning meetings, take notes, and assist with follow-up action items.
  • Assist with research projects on TAAF Initiatives and decks related to corporate partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduates pursuing degrees in a related field of study (Business, Econ, Public Policy Major, MBA, Nonprofit Management, CSR/DEI) or the equivalent of education and relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in coordinating or managing projects related to the delivery of human resources products or services.

Skills and Knowledge 

  • Demonstrated willingness to lead, take charge, and accept responsibilities and challenges.
  • Ability to think creatively about alternatives and develop new ideas for and answers to work-related problems.
  • Must be able to interact with employees at all levels of the organization, in addition to other stakeholders, with professionalism, persuasiveness, and diplomacy; must effectively gain trust, build rapport, counsel, and assess complex situations with a very high level of accuracy.
  • Strong work ethic with impeccable judgment and integrity.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the use of technology, including the use of Google Suite.
  • Personal commitment to professional growth and to receiving and acting on constructive feedback.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with tact and discretion.
  • Excellent and well developed written, verbal, organizational, presentation and technical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, teamwork, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks while remaining focused.
  • Ability to work independently, remotely, remain flexible and thrive in a fast-paced environment, and handle issues in a timely manner.

Working Hours

  • Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You will be expected to work in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, while Mondays and Fridays can be remote. This position may require occasional work on weekends, during off-hours, or in the evenings and some travel within New York City may be necessary.

Location

  • This role is hybrid and based in New York City.
  • Anticipated hourly rate is $17.00.
