At Applied\u2019s CTO group, we focus on solid-state solutions for quantum technology, i.e. superconducting qubits, photonic quantum computing, and photonic systems for neutral atom/trapped ion. Our primary objective is to collaborate with system companies and universities to develop quantum devices with significantly lower error rates compared to current standards. Our approach centers on harnessing state of the art materials engineering and semiconductor processing, as well as our expertise in advanced optics and other relevant areas to enhance device performance. To achieve this goal, we\u0027re seeking individuals with a strong background in optics and photonic devices to join our expanding team. The position will entail the following:\n\n\u00b7 Design and simulation of photonic structures for neutral atom/trapped ion quantum computing platforms\n\n\u00b7 Design and conduct testing of optical films and devices\n\n\u00b7 Explore new optical devices for neutral atom/trapped ion quantum computing leveraging Applied\u2019s expertise in precision material engineering\n\nRequirements\n\n\u00b7 Student must be pursuing a PhD\u2019s degree program in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field\n\n\u00b7 Knowledge and coursework in optics and photonic devices\n\n\u00b7 Student must be in good academic standing at their university, with a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale\n\n\u00b7 Experience in photonic device fabrication and modeling preferred\n\n\u00b7 Experience with AMO experiments desired\n\nApplied Materials is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
