Social Media & Narratives Intern
A powerful story can inspire people to start services, join the volunteer team, and
donate to our mission. As a grassroots organization, we strive to be connected to our
community and share our story in an authentic way to invite others to join our cause.
The Social Media & Narratives Intern works closely with each department and program
to collect stories, pictures, and impact of our work in the community. This position
reports to the Community Engagement Manager.
We are looking for…
We are seeking a high school senior or undergraduate student with an interest in
Marketing, Public Relations, Non -Profit Management, Communications, Professional
Writing, Photography, or other similar fields. This intern will participate in programming
and outreach to take quality pictures and record stories from families. While collecting
stories of success from families themselves, this role will also collect stories from staff.
Once these stories are collected, this intern will organize and format stories for social
media posts, newsletters, presentations, fliers, and more.
Required Experienced and Skills
ï· Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with families,
colleagues, and community partners.
ï· Proficiency in managing multiple tasks, keeping accurate records, and maintaining
organized documentation.
ï· Working well with other team members, community partners, and external
organizations to provide comprehensive support.
ï· Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to a positive
organizational culture
ï· Valid Texas Driver License
ï· Reliable transportation
ï· Interns must pass a criminal background check
ï· Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred but not required
ï· Experience in photography and photo editing, preferred but not required
ï· Experience in professional writing, preferred but not required
Job Duties
ï· Meet with staff from each department regularly to collect stories of success and
impact
ï· Compile, edit, organize, and share stories of impact with the Development Team for
social media posts, newsletters, presentations, etc.
ï· Travel locally to capture pictures and stories during outreach and community events
ï· Collaborate with the staff to create ways to show our impact to the community

ABC of Southwest Texas is a 43 -year -old organization based in San Antonio, Texas,
that serves children and families with special healthcare needs regardless of income.
We believe in inclusivity, and all our services are free to any family member who needs
them. In addition to our Autism Services Program, ABC offers comprehensive case
management, prescription assistance, and grief and loss support for parents who have
lost a child.

ï· Problem -Solving: This role will give interns the ability to be creative to engage a
wide range of audiences
ï· Collaboration: Interns will work directly with the Community Engagement
Manager, ABC staff, and community members on a regular basis.
ï· Technological Literacy: This role will have the students use multiple software
platforms such as Meta, LinkedIn, Microsoft, video editing, Canva, and more.
ï· Career Planning: Mentorship in this role includes internship and career
development goals that will be focused on throughout the semester. Introductions
will be made when possible.
ï· Advocacy: With regular one -on -one meetings, interns will be encouraged to
share concerns, goals, and insights.
