Drake is seeking a motivated Accounting Intern to join our team for Summer 2027. The Accounting Intern will gain hands on experience supporting accounting and financial operations within the construction industry.
The intern will work alongside members of the accounting team and assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, job cost reporting, and general accounting activities. This position is ideal for a dependable, detail-oriented student who is eager to learn and gain practical experience in a professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
Shadow accounting professionals to learn about daily accounting and financial operations.
Assist with entering, reviewing, and organizing accounting information.
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
Assist with customer billing and invoice preparation.
Review invoices, purchase orders, receipts, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
Help maintain organized electronic and paper accounting records.
Assist with data entry, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
Learn about construction job costing, budgets, project phases, and cost types.
Assist with payroll-related documentation and reporting as assigned.
Help track vendor, customer, and project information.
Work with accounting and project teams to obtain missing information or documentation.
Use accounting software, spreadsheets, and other company systems.
Maintain confidentiality when handling employee, company, and financial information.
Participate in company training, activities, and internship assignments.
Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accounting, finance, business administration, or related program preferred.
Previous accounting or office experience is helpful but not required.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
