Actuary Intern

Position Summary

The Actuary Intern will be deeply involved in all aspects of the actuarial job duties listed below and work with a highly collaborative team. Given the size of the plan, the position allows for a wide range of actuarial opportunities and skill growth within an organization that supports a healthy work-life balance.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s or master’s degree program in mathematics, statistics, or actual science with at least one semester remaining to complete all degree requirements following the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Passed at least 1 actuarial exam
• Experience using Microsoft Office products including Access, Excel and Word

Job Duties

The Actuary Intern will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

• Participate in the annual actuarial reconciliation process of the System data.
• Draft the information, charts, and graphs for the Actuarial and Statistical sections of the System’s Annual Financial Report
• Work with outside auditors and System accountants to prepare the System’s Annual Financial Report
• Prepare actuarial annuity values and option factors in accordance with statue, including the computation of option factors for alternative options and domestic relation orders
• Prepare actuarial information of the July board meeting
