Job Description - Administrator-in-Training (AIT)

Are you an experienced healthcare professional looking to take the next step into leadership? We are seeking a motivated and driven Administrator-in-Training (AIT) to join our team. Under the direct supervision of a licensed Preceptor, you will complete a state-mandated hands-on training program designed to prepare you for licensure as a Nursing Home Administrator (NHA).

This is an immersive program that offers a clear pathway to leadership within our organization. Upon obtaining your license, you will be placed as an Administrator at one of our skilled nursing facilities.

Key Responsibilities (During AIT)

During the required training period, you will rotate through various departments to gain a holistic understanding of facility operations:

  • Clinical Operations: Understanding the role of the nursing department in coordination with the Administrator.
  • Department Management: Gaining exposure to department head roles and responsibilities.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Learning state and federal regulations governing long-term care.
  • Financial Oversight: Assisting with budget preparation, payroll, and financial statement analysis.
  • Human Resources: Participating in staffing, orientation, and performance management processes.
  • Marketing & Admissions: Understanding the census development and admission processes.

Qualifications

Required Experience:
We are looking for candidates with a strong foundational understanding of the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) industry. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in one or more of the following director-level or high-level administrative roles:

  • Admissions/Marketing
  • Social Services
  • Business Office Management
  • Other relevant Department Head experience

Note: While all healthcare experience is valuable, candidates with a background primarily in Activities may find this specific track less aligned with the core administrative focus of the program.

Education:

  • Must have completed a standard 4-year degree related to Healthcare (e.g., Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field).

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong understanding of SNF operations and culture.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to commit to the full-time training program schedule.
  • Tenure: We value stability and commitment. Candidates should demonstrate solid work history and longevity in previous roles.
