Agronomy and Seed Sales Summer Internship DF Seeds

Description

The Summer Agronomy and Seed Sales Intern will assist the Agronomy Team, the Sales Team, and the Seed Production Team in all facets of the DF Seeds business in Michigan. The candidate will be exposed to every aspect of the DF operations and sales. The candidate will assist with a variety of tasks associated with testing and selecting new soybean and corn varieties, learn the seed production process from field production through shipping, and work with the sales team to learn the sales process. This is a paid internship of $15 to $20 per hour.

Duties and responsibilities

• Assist in organizing, establishing, maintaining, harvesting, and evaluating field research plots across MI.
• Ride along with Agronomy Team to provide customer support on product performance throughout the state.
• Ride along with Sales Team to provide dealer and farmers support and product recommendations for the coming planting season.
• Assist in planning and hosting plot tours at the plots throughout the state.
• Compile data using Microsoft 365 programs.
• Work with Marketing Team to develop agronomic messaging.
• Assist in upkeep of the plots throughout the state.
• Safely operate equipment and tools.
• Work with dealers and customers to place and remove field signs.
• Perform summer field inspections of soybean and wheat seed fields as needed.

Requirements

• Pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, preferably in agronomy, agricultural business, or related field of study
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and have a safe driving record
• Able to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
• Able to work in warehouse conditions with limited heating and cooling
• Flexible hours and/or extended hours may be required
• Strong communication, leadership, and time-management skills
• Attention to detail and ability to work without supervision
• Give and receive feedback to collaborate with others
