Founded in 2005, Ohio State’s premier student-run investment club develops future finance professionals through rigorous equity research, financial modeling, and portfolio management. Members participate in the Scarlet Alpha Management Fund, applying real-time investment theses through paper trading, and compete in semester-long stock pitch competitions judged by faculty and industry mentors. Through structured new-member training, professional mentorship, peer learning, and hands-on investment experience, the organization prepares members for careers in wealth management, equity research, private equity, and corporate finance.
Members conduct equity research, analyze financial statements, build valuation models, and monitor market and industry trends. They develop investment theses, present stock pitches to the club, and make paper-trading portfolio recommendations for the Scarlet Alpha Management Fund. Members also attend weekly sector discussions, complete New Member Development in investment fundamentals and financial modeling, collaborate with peers, track portfolio performance, and participate in professional mentorship and career-development activities.
All applicants must be enrolled at The Ohio State University in good academic standing and have availability to attend required meetings on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
